School dropout rates in Uganda are high. About 45% of primary school children and 30% of secondary school children drop out before completing their education. Children in rural areas are more likely to leave school than those in urban areas. There are several contributing factors to these dropout rates in Uganda. These include poverty, as many families cannot afford to send their children to school, and children often need to work to support their families.
Additionally, child labor and early marriage are prevalent issues. It is within this context that we established the Education Care Program. We aim to address these challenges and reduce poverty in the communities we serve. Through our Education care program, we seek to provide support that enables children to stay in school and create opportunities for a brighter future.
Uganda has one of the world`s most rapidly expanding populations with 77.5% of the population under the age of 30, and 55% are under 18. Yet, amid this vibrancy, many challenges exist. Youth unemployment, presently at 13%, casts a shadow on the country`s economic potential. Moreover, the increasing demand for housing and infrastructure intensifies by the day, striving to keep pace with this increasing population. The dilemma: Wood-fired mud brick, central to construction, fuels deforestation and wetland loss. Result? A projected 7% annual rainforest decline, risking total loss by 2040.
But hope exists. We, with partners, economically empower youth, teaching eco-friendly construction. Our goal? Close the construction gap, fight poverty, and nurture communities. In our youth program, we prioritize eco-friendly projects, caring for both construction needs and environmental preservation. Together, we craft affordable, sustainable solutions for the communities we serve.
